Gynecomastia is an over- development of large mammary glands in males resulting in breast enlargement.
The causes of gynecomastia are not clearly understood, although it has generally been linked to an imbalance of sex hormones. The condition results in an increased oestrogen activity on breast tissue causing the enlargement.
